What happened
A Thai client needed document and signature certification for two purposes abroad: identity verification for a driving-licence application, and address confirmation for a pension or retirement-fund application.
What we did
We asked the client to present all original documents and an original passport or identity card for inspection. This could be arranged at the Phuket office or through the firm's off-site certification service.
Before certifying anything, we checked the destination requirements. In particular, we established whether the receiving authority accepted certification by a notarial services attorney or required an embassy, consulate or another government authority instead.
Once acceptance of the relevant notarial certification was confirmed, we verified the documents and the client's identity and completed the document and signature certifications.
The outcome in this case
The client obtained the certifications needed to proceed with the overseas driving-licence and pension applications. The work described here concerns preparation and certification of the documents, rather than approval of those applications by the receiving authorities.
